RG Tallgeese III “Blackswan” build post-mortem

Earlier this year, I built an MG Tallgeese III for a client. When the RG version was announced, I received another request to build that in the same colours.

There’s not much to say about this kit except it’s far superior to the MG version in every way (except for scale). The gun and shield don’t cause the arms to sag or anything, and the heat rod is done with a wire instead of those ball joints that break easily on the MG. As with most RG kits, it does feel a bit fragile, but that’s to be expected.

The Tallgeese III decal on the shoulder is a custom decal, and while it kinda turned out okay, getting it printed made me appreciate how good quality 3rd party sellers like Delpidecal actually are.

Anyway, colour mixes as below (same as the MG build):

Black – Gaianotes Black (100%). Gaianotes White is added for shading effect.

Dark Grey – Mr Color Midnight Blue (90%) + Purple (10%). White is added for shading effect.

Blue – Mr Color Blue (80%) + Mr Color Purple (20%). White is added for shading effect, then some clear blue is misted over.

Yellow – Mr Color Orange (100%) base coat, starter white, Mr Color Orange Yellow (70%) + Yellow (30%) is misted over.

Internals – Gaianotes Black base coat then SMS Stainless still misted over

Mega Cannon grey – Mr Color German Grey (100%) base coat, followed by German Grey (70%) + Neutral Grey (30%) for shading.
